The factors that determine the outcome of any birth fall into three categories: those which are predetermined, those which arise at the moment, and those which you can control. No woman can say in advance whether her body is a perfect birthing machine. No woman can be sure that she will give birth in a calm, quiet environment. You have control over two things: the care you take of yourself prenatally and the preparation you make within yourself for childbirth. Take a class. Hire a doula. Ask your questions.
