Questions to Ask a Doula |

· What training have you had? (If a doula is certified you may considering checking out the certifying organization.) · What is your philosophy about childbirth and supporting women and their partners through labour? · When do you try to join women in labour? Will you come to our home or do you meet us at the place of birth? · How often do you meet with us prenatally? What do you usually discuss at prenatal visits? · May we call you with questions or concerns before or after the birth? · Do you meet with us after the birth to review the labour and answer questions? · Do you work with one or more backup doulas for times when you are not available? May we meet her / them? · What is your fee, what does it include, what are your payment and refund policies? · Can you provide references? (Be sure to check the references.)
