As a doula, I provide continuous physical and emotional support during labour and delivery. I can provide reassurance and perspective, make suggestions for labour progress and help with relaxation, massage, positioning and other techniques for comfort. As your doula, I will work for you, not your caregiver or hospital. I prefer to meet with clients at least twice before labour to become acquainted, to talk about any past birthing experiences and any fears or concerns you may have. At these meetings we will discuss your best ways of coping with pain and fatigue and how you and your partner foresee working together, as well as your expectations of me. During labour, I will join you as soon as you want me present, either in your home or at the hospital or birthing center. I will accompany you to the birth location (if applicable) and I will remain with you throughout your entire labour. I will stay for one to two hours after your baby is born in order to help with the emotional transition and initial breastfeeding. A postpartum follow up visit is scheduled within two weeks of the birth.
As a doula I do not: · Perform clinical tasks such as blood pressure readings, fetal heart checks, vaginal exams, etc. · Make decisions for you. I will help you get the information necessary to make an informed decision. · Speak to medical staff on your behalf. I will discuss your concerns with you and suggest options, but I believe it is important that you speak on your own behalf.
Fees and Policies My standard fee for Doula Services is $650.00 Half of the fee ($325) is due at the time of booking, the remainder after your birth. Discounts are offered to clients who have completed a Childbirth Education Course with me.
